About the photographer
Hey, I’m Andrew.
I live and shoot on the traditional territory of the Tla-o-qui-aht and Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ First Nations, which happens to be a dream spot for my two favourite things: photography and surfing. When I’m not doing either, I’m usually bikepacking, hiking, or wandering around outside with a camera.
I think I’ve always been drawn to it. Some of my earliest memories are of shooting film as a kid and waiting for my parents to bring the prints home from Costco. I gave photography a few more tries as a teenager and in my early twenties, but always drifted back to my iPhone.
That changed in 2020. After my dad passed, I realized I had almost no photos of him just being himself: mowing the lawn, elbow-deep in a car. So now I photograph the ordinary stuff on purpose, mostly on 35mm and 120 film.
